Construction Course Films

The Brief
We were commissioned by The Open University to create a series of films to go alongside a new set of T Level construction courses in bricklaying, plastering and woodwork.
Concept, Production & Delivery
The videos needed to be clear, accurate and easy to follow, as the target audience for these films were students. From the start of the project, we had to work a lot with the team in pre-production to get the scripting right. We have numerous meetings where each expert explained the process of either laying a brick wall, making a half lap joint and how to render a wall, where we took extensive notes for our scripting. It’s important we got the understanding of the process right early on in production, as these films were designed to teach, so had to be the correct process. After our inital scripting we had feedback meetings and revisions to ensure the content was correct. Then following this, we could then plan the visuals and what the different shot types we needed to make the films understandable and engaging. We spent 3 days filming the 3 different disciplines, creating a total of 7 assets for the construction courses.
The Outcome
A slate of high quality teaching films that are easy for students to follow and learn the basics of construction disciplines.
